John Tice graduated from Virginia Tech with a Bachelor of Architecture in 1971, and Master of Architecture Degree in Urban Design in 1972. He began his career in Nashville, TN and then moved to Pensacola, FL to join the firm in 1979. In 1983, Mr. Tice was promoted to partner and in 1994, assumed the role of President/CEO. For over thirty years, Mr. Tice has enjoyed a broad range of leadership roles in local, state, and national organizations. He has developed and applied a strategic method of problem solving by combining his knowledge of systems theory with his architectural training. His results-oriented leadership legacy has incrementally and systematically elevated not only BTA’s effectiveness, but the effectiveness of his professional affiliations as well. A recipient of AIA Florida's Gold Medal, Mr. Tice is recognized as an architect who distinguished himself in a manner resulting in a profound impact on the profession over an extended period of time. This is the highest award AIA Florida can bestow on one of its members.
