This project provides two new buildings; the 100,000 SF Navigator Training Hangar and the 50,000 SF Combat Systems Officer (CSO) Applied Instruction / Simulator Facility (AIF), as well as the redesign of a significant portion of an existing aircraft parking apron, a new Combat Aircraft Loading Area (CALA), including lighting, striping and FOD control devices.
Activities / functions contained within the Hangar include the Training Squadron’s commanding officer and staff; training aircraft storage and repair; maintenance training, testing and evaluation; mission briefing; aircraft flight control and monitoring; engine maintenance and parts storage; fuel system maintenance and repair; tool storage; seat repair and fuel and lubricant storage.
The CSO AIF is programmed and designed to accommodate realignment and relocation of Air Force Combat Systems Officer (CSO) training functions from Randolph AFB, TX to NAS Pensacola, FL. The CSO AIF occupies approximately 40,000 SF and provides 15 classrooms, instructor offices, T25 training simulator spaces, briefing rooms and student homerooms. Instructional activities, utilizing classified information, dictate a secure exterior envelope, controlled/restricted access and a SCIF. The Simulator portion of the facility occupies approximately 10,000 SF and provides areas for six (6) Operational Flight Trainers (OFT’s) and office space for 36 instructors.
