This two-story 15,065 SF building addition provides the 19th Special Operations Squadron with facilities in which to conduct real-world mission rehearsal support and emergency training procedures in a simulated MC-130J aircraft environment. The design includes a large open Simulator Bay to accommodate an electric motion simulator, Computer Room with adjacent Flight Simulator Technicians Room, a 210-person auditorium-style VTC Mass Briefing Room, Briefing/Debriefing Rooms in a classified “Open Storage” environment and seminar-style Classroom/Training Rooms and offices.
The project achieved LEED Gold NCv2.2 Certification. Sustainable design strategies include solar shading on windows and storefront entrances, high-efficiency HVAC systems, solar water heating systems and water-saving plumbing fixtures to support reduced water use.
