Bullock Tice Associates provided Interior Design services to the U.S. Corps of Engineers, Mobile District’s Architectural and Engineering Team on a new, 24,750 SF Child Development Center at Columbus AFB, MS. One of the design objectives was to meet the child development needs of the children, caregivers, administrators, and parents at Columbus AFB by creating a safe, home-like environment that will encourage positive relationships between children parents, and staff as well as foster family involvement.
The facility accommodates 128 children from ages 6 months to 5 years old including 4 infant modules, 2 pre-toddler modules; 2 toddler modules; and 2 preschool modules. Space characteristics included multi-purpose room, central administrative area; staff support areas; facility support areas; and lending library.
BTA provided full structural and comprehensive interior design services (SID/CID), including complete space planning and programming, including standard and custom furnishings, finishes, and architectural millwork for the project.
This facility achieved LEED “Gold” Certification under the NC v2.2. The recycled content of this facility totals 22% and utilizes structural steel, concrete, Marmoleum, Fiber rock, acoustical tile ceiling, aluminum frames, glazing, carpet, and gypsum board. Regional materials total 30% and include concrete, steel, brick, glass, and carpet. Low emitting materials include carpet systems, paints and coatings, adhesives and sealants.
